Brand Book: A Guide to Building a Strong Brand Introduction In 2025, simply having an online presence is not enough for businesses — standing out is crucial. Every day, users scroll through hundreds of posts, websites, and ads, while competition in the digital space keeps growing. So, how can you make your brand noticeable and memorable? The answer is simple: you need a brand book. It’s not just a document with pretty pictures but a strategic tool that helps businesses communicate with their audience in a unified way—both visually and conceptually. In this article, I’ll explain what a brand book is, what it consists of, and why it is essential even for startups and small businesses. What Is a Brand Book? A brand book is essentially a “roadmap” for your brand. It defines how a company should look and sound in the eyes of customers, partners, and employees. It’s not just a set of rules but a way to maintain brand consistency in any situation. What Does a Brand Book Include? Logo – usage guidelines, acceptable colors, and sizes. Colors – primary brand colors and their combinations. Fonts – recommended typefaces for text. Tone of voice – should communication be formal, friendly, or have a touch of humor? Application examples – how to design social media posts, business cards, advertisements, and more. A brand book should not be confused with corporate identity (which covers only the visual aspects) or brand guidelines (detailed instructions on brand usage). A brand book integrates style, rules, and brand philosophy into one comprehensive document. Why a Lack of a Brand Book Causes Problems A company without a brand book is like a person who changes outfits every day—one day in a business suit, the next in sportswear. The result? Customers don’t recognize or understand the brand. Key Issues Without a Brand Book: Inconsistent design – social media posts and marketing materials lack a cohesive style. Low brand recognition – an inconsistent brand image makes it harder for customers to remember. Lack of trust – an uncoordinated brand appearance looks unprofessional. 📌 Example: A coffee shop posts warm-toned images on Instagram but uses cool blue tones on its website. Customers might think they are looking at two different companies and choose a competitor with a clear, consistent brand style. According to the Edelman Trust Barometer 2022, 81% of consumers need to trust a brand before making a purchase. The Benefits of a Brand Book for Businesses Creating a brand book is an investment in the future. It offers companies several key advantages: Brand recognition – a consistent style helps embed your brand in customers’ memory. Studies show that using a signature color increases brand recognition by 80% (Reboot, 2018). Professionalism – clear branding rules demonstrate a serious approach to business. Time savings – designers and marketers know exactly what to do, reducing unnecessary revisions. Stronger digital presence – a consistent brand looks more confident and attractive online. According to Twilio 2022, 70% of users trust brands with a unified style across social media and websites. 📌 Example: A small clothing store developed a brand book, defining its logo, colors, and fonts. Within a few months, customers began recognizing their posts in their social media feed, and sales increased by 30%. Brands that maintain consistent branding see revenue growth of 10-20% (Lucidpress). Brand Book and Online Positioning Today, businesses primarily operate online: through social media, websites, and marketplaces. In 2025, visual identity is your ticket to the digital world. A brand book helps businesses: ✅ Stand out among thousands of competitors.✅ Earn customer trust – 59% of consumers prefer to buy from brands they trust (WebFX, 2022).✅ Simplify internal processes – ensuring a unified content style across teams. 📌 Example: A brand that uses the same colors and fonts across Telegram and Instagram creates instant recognition—customers immediately think, “Oh, it’s them!” Who Needs a Brand Book? ✔ Startups & entrepreneurs – to build a solid foundation from the start.✔ Small businesses – to project a professional image.✔ Large companies – to align branding across departments.✔ Freelancers – to stand out from competitors. How to Create a Brand Book? You don’t need to spend millions to develop a brand book. Here’s a simple process: 1️⃣ Define your brand identity – mission, values, and unique selling points.2️⃣ Create a visual style – logo, colors, and typography.3️⃣ Set usage guidelines – where and how to apply brand elements. You can create a brand book yourself (using tools like Canva), hire a designer, or use ready-made templates. The key is to start! Conclusion A brand book is not a luxury—it’s a necessity for any business. It makes your brand recognizable, consistent, and professional. How to Prepare for Creating a WordPress Website: 9 Steps to Success
How to Prepare for Creating a WordPress Website: 9 Steps to Success Building a website is like organizing a wedding: if you want everything to go perfectly, you need to prepare! The better you work out the details, the easier it will be for your developer to bring your idea to life. In this article, you’ll find 9 simple steps to get ready and avoid common mistakes. Step ONE Understand Why You Need a Website Ask yourself this question: what problem will your website solve for your business? Selling products or services? Attracting new clients? Developing a personal brand or running a blog? Example: If you’re launching an online store, you’ll need features like a shopping cart and payment integration. If it’s a blog, focus on navigation and article presentation. Mistake: “I just want a website.” This approach often results in a site that looks nice but doesn’t work effectively. Step TWO Know Your Audience Your website should appeal not just to you, but to your customers. Define your audience: Who are your customers? What are their needs, problems, and interests? How can your website solve these issues? Tip: If your target audience is young moms, consider a light design with intuitive navigation. For a business audience, opt for a more professional look. Mistake: Creating a website “for everyone.” There’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution. Step THREE List the Features You Need Think about the functionalities your website must have. Here are some ideas: A contact form. A blog for publishing content. Online payment options. Pro Tip: Divide your list into “essential” and “nice-to-have” features. For example, a shopping cart is essential, while a logo animation is just a bonus. Mistake: “I want everything at once!” This can lead to budget overruns and unnecessary complexity. Step FOUR Prepare Your Content Content is the heart of your website. Plan ahead: What texts do you need? Product descriptions, service pages, blog posts? What images or videos will you use? Tip: If you don’t have content yet, discuss this with your developer. They may recommend a copywriter or designer to help. Mistake: “We’ll handle the content later.” Without texts and images, your website will feel empty. Step FIVE Set a Budget A website is an investment. Determine how much you’re ready to spend and share this with your developer. Example: An online store typically requires a larger budget because of the additional features like payment systems and inventory management. Mistake: Expecting a quality website for €100. That’s either a myth or a disappointment waiting to happen. Step SIX Define the Style and Design Your website is the face of your business. Decide on the following: What colors and fonts do you like? Are there any websites that inspire you? Tip: Share 3–5 examples with your developer to give them a clear idea of your preferences. Mistake: “Make it look nice, and we’ll figure out the rest.” The more specific you are, the better the results will be. Step SEVEN Choose a Domain and Hosting A domain is your website’s address, and hosting is its “home.” For example: Domain: mybusiness.com Hosting: The platform where your website is stored. Pro Tip: If you’re unsure which options to choose, ask your developer for advice. Mistake: Picking the cheapest hosting option. This can result in slow load times and reliability issues. Step EIGHT Plan for the Future A website is never “finished”; it grows and evolves. Think ahead: Who will update the content? Will you need new features in the future (e.g., a blog or e-commerce functionality)? Tip: Discuss your website’s long-term development with your developer to avoid costly updates later. Mistake: “Let’s build the site first and worry about the future later.” Planning saves time and money. Step NINE Be Ready to Collaborate with Your Developer Gather all the necessary information before starting: Your website’s purpose and target audience. A list of features and design examples. Your budget and timeline. Pro Tip: The more details you provide, the faster your developer can create a solution that fits your needs. Mistake: “Just make it like my competitor’s website.” Every business is unique and deserves a tailored approach. Conclusion Building a website is a team effort. The better prepared you are, the smoother the process will be. By following these 9 steps, you’ll get a website that becomes a true business asset. Ready to start? Why Does Your Business Need a WordPress Website?
Why Does Your Business Need a WordPress Website? Imagine walking into a restaurant and instead of a menu, the waiter spends ten minutes explaining each dish. Convenient? Hardly. Now imagine your business is that restaurant, and your website is the menu, helping customers find what they need quickly and effortlessly. A website isn’t just a business card. It’s a tool that attracts customers, streamlines processes, and fuels growth. And if you want your website to be an asset, not a headache, WordPress is the best choice. Let’s explore why. WordPress: The Flexibility Your Business Needs WordPress is like a Swiss army knife for websites — a versatile tool that fits almost any purpose: Landing pages — to attract customers and showcase your products. E-commerce stores — complete with payment systems, shopping carts, and delivery integrations. Online schools — to host courses and paid content. Corporate websites — to build trust and credibility. Fun fact: 43% of all websites on the internet run on WordPress. If giants like CNN, Sony, and even the White House trust this platform, your business can rely on it too. WordPress: The Flexibility Your Business Needs At first glance, website builders like Wix or Tilda might seem simpler. But WordPress offers unmatched advantages: Full control. With WordPress, you own your website and all its content. Builders, on the other hand, are more like renting a space. SEO optimization. WordPress is built with search engines in mind, helping you rank higher on Google. Flexibility. With countless plugins and customization options, WordPress can handle anything your business needs. Example: If WordPress works for CNN and the White House, it can handle your business, no matter how big or small. Why Professional Help Makes a Difference Sure, you can build a WordPress site on your own. But it’s like renovating your home — it’s better to hire a pro to avoid costly mistakes. Here’s what professionals bring to the table: Setting up a theme (or designing a unique look). Installing essential plugins: For SEO: Yoast SEO. For security: Wordfence. For speed optimization: WP Rocket. Making your site mobile-friendly. Testing across all platforms. By trusting a professional, you save time, energy, and avoid costly errors. Security First WordPress can be incredibly secure, but only if properly managed. Here’s how: Install an SSL certificate. Regularly update plugins and themes. Set up protection against spam and hacking. Create regular backups. One of my clients lost their website because they failed to update their plugins. We restored it and set up automatic backups to prevent future issues. WordPress Isn’t Free, But It’s Worth It The basic WordPress platform is free, but a quality website requires investment: Premium themes for a unique design. Paid plugins for advanced features. Reliable hosting to ensure stable performance. These investments pay off by boosting customer trust and automating your business processes. Ready to Take the Next Step? Video & Storytelling from Olena Soinikova
Video and Storytelling LAB, Athens “The Lightkeepers” VIDEO AND STORYTELLING FROM OLENA SOINIKOVA I’m proud to share with you one of my recent projects, a documentary film called “The Lightkeepers”. It was part of the Video & Storytelling LAB, a workshop organized by Karpos and supported by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Greece. The workshop aimed to familiarize people from different social and cultural backgrounds with the film process and personal expression through images and sounds. The workshop was divided into 10 three-hour sessions and concluded in March 2023. During these hours, we learned the principles of storytelling and how to operate film equipment to eventually create our own videos. The subjects of our films varied as well as our approach, from documentaries to a more artistic and narrative approach to the subjects. We chose the subjects of our films by ourselves and with the help of Karpos’ instructors we developed our script and did the final editing. Group work My film, “The Lightkeepers”, is a group film directing project that I worked on with Mustafa Noah and Elli Xypolitaki. We wanted to explore how a school in Athens, that works on the weekends, helps refugee children that have fled the war in Ukraine. How does it help ease children’s painful memories and experiences from the war? How does it offer them hope and a sense of belonging? Art and Inclusion Our film was presented at the “Art & Inclusion” event on May 10 in Romantso, Athens, along with the other films produced by the workshop participants. The event was a great opportunity to showcase our work and to discuss how art can promote inclusion, social cohesion and peaceful coexistence. The attendance and participation of the people was great and moving for all of us. The next screenings of our film will be announced soon. https://youtu.be/ZawkoJQspnw I’m very grateful for the experience of being part of the Video & Storytelling LAB and for the chance to meet and collaborate with amazing people. I learned a lot from the workshop, not only about filmmaking, but also about myself and the world around me. I hope you enjoy watching our film and I look forward to hearing your feedback.
